Tune in to Matt’s curated playlist for some upbeat tracks, and see the city of San Francisco during quarantime through his lens.

Read on to meet one of the many essential members of our Gray Area community on Patch!

Tell us about yourself.

I’m the Project Coordinator at Gray Area. I’ve been involved with Gray Area for about 2.5 years. You’ve likely seen me at our events running around and operating lighting, sound, bartending, door duties, house managing, doing it all! I miss seeing all of your faces at our events 😔 My favorite thing is to run lighting during our shows, so I hope you’ve noticed my work!

Something that some of you might not know about me is I keep two happy and healthy snakes named Versace and Yves, and have had a few geckos in the past. I also do quite a bit of dog sitting.

Can you share one of your favorite Gray Area memories with us?

The run of Inferno performances by during Gray Area Festival last year has definitely a highlight of my time here. Watching the fear/excitement on participant’s faces when the robot suits began to twitch and move was very very entertaining! Working with everyone from the artists to the volunteers to the performers was a huge pleasure. Plus, I loved the vast amounts of strobe lights and fog in that production. Big shoutout to those who helped out!

Where are you sharing this from right now?

Currently holding it down in the Sunset district in SF. I’ve been doing work from my porch in the PM when it gets sunny, here’s a screencap with me and my quarantine buddy, Donny!

Can you share a playlist with us?

This is a little collection of tunes that encapsulates what I listen to overall, a little melting pot of my tastes!

Can you describe yourself in a few images?

What have you been up to during quarantime?

Been helping get Patch online!

Been doing a lot of yoga and walking. Always bringing my camera with me to document these strange times. Photoworks SF is still scanning film for anyone wondering! Also been learning French via Duolingo. Enchantée!

What have you been up to creatively?

Been doing quite a bit of film photography as of late. Here’s a handful of my favorites! I primarily use a Vivitar 3800N & Fujicolor Superia 400 35mm film.

Any words of wisdom?

There’s a lesson to be learned from everything. Life is too short to waste on negativity or confusion!
